Get scoped!

Friends. Just endured my latest colonoscopy. Some thoughts to share with all ‘yall.

  1. Once you hit the proper age, get it done. Colorectal cancer is nothing to sneeze at and colonoscopies can save lives. Do it! My latest scope was good and I’m relieved (in more ways than one) that I did it.

That being said, there are other considerations though none of these should deter you from getting the procedure done:

  1. The prep. Yes, it remains more torturous than anything the CIA could have imagined. In fact, I’m pretty sure satan is behind it.
  2. Tell your anesthesiologist when you go in for the procedure that whatever they think is sufficient to knock your ass out, double it. Tell them you not only want to feel no pain but you also don’t want to remember what day it is.

And fourth, post procedure, you have many viewing options as you recover from the excavation of your inner sanctum. My top recommendation? “World War Z,”the apocalyptic zombie manifesto that, for me, best captures the entire colonoscopy experience.

Now go get scoped. This is one of those rare occasions when I’m actually not wrong!
